MWC:SPORTS presents the second in the Skill School series – A monthly set of training tips from ECB Performance Coach and England LD Wicket Keeping Coach Mark Costin.

The drills on here are aimed at players who are unsure of how to train or just looking for different ideas. #3 is the third in our wicket keeping series.

The single most important thing a wicket keeper needs to do in training is catch a lot of balls. After that everything else is just icing on the cake. The video below looks at getting our feet moving when standing back to the quicker bowlers.

The key coaching points are:

• When stood back to the quicker bowlers, raise your stance slightly.

• Watch the ball.

• Make sure your weight is on the balls of your feet.

• Move your feet to get in line. Only use diving as a last resort.

• Where possible take the ball underneath your eyes.

• Practice setting up for left and right handed batters.
